Golf Performance Training San Francisco: A Move Every Golfer Should Do
One of the most important things your Golf Fitness and Performance Training needs is spinal mobility training. If you aren’t doing any spinal mobility work specifically then you have a major blindspot.
With my clients, we begin with assessments to understand the major movers within the context of their golf swing. We take an inside out approach to the training and begin with the most fundamental joints.
Your spine provides a variety of movements and the priority when I begin with clients is understanding where you’re capable of moving and where you aren’t capable. This gives us information about where to intervene.
Do you have good flexion and extension?
Do you have adequate rotational capacity?
Do you have good lateral flexion?
Once we know this information, we can began to plot the necessary training inputs to help you improve.
We then assess Hips and Shoulders to determine your capacity of movement for these joints. Once we have this information we can begin to see how this plays out when integrated.
Many of my Golf clients report that when they go to do their lessons with a Golf Pro, that it amazes both them and the pro when they ask for a certain posture or position and they know how to simply do it.
Time and time again I remind people that movements and positions (whether a Squat or Golf Swing) require certain capacities for movement. Sometimes you can get more range or move in a way because you have the range and didn’t know it. But when you have constraints and don’t know where your limitations reside, accessing specific positions may be challenging.
This is why my program has provided so much success for the people I work with.
